We have a client that spent over $800 to repair a laptop, eventually to find out it needed to be replaced.  After convincing our friend to let us see the machine, it was fully repaired in under 1 hour, with all of his valuable information recovered...  This, of course, was after he spent another $1800 on a new laptop since the "squad" said the old one was done-for!
